Built for offshore cruises, the Aureus XV was designed to be a “purveyor of thrills”. Steady and responsive, rippling with power, you’ll be sailing the high seas from your fingertips, never having to leave the helm. Maneuvers are faster and cleaner, and adjustments are more precise.

PERFORMANCE IS EVERYTHING

A boat's performance is a complex and precise alchemy and its constituent parts must be thought out and combined to give their best. Here too, Aureus XV is the fruit of radical thinking and uncompromising choice of materials and equipment. Weight minimisation, energy cost limitation, extreme mobility outside the boat, smooth and rapid manoeuvring, powerful sails, shock resistance - everything on this carbon cruiser is designed to deliver sheer power. The pleasure of sailing fast.

SAIL PLAN

The Aureus XV has a large sail plan, designed to be easily handled by a reduced crew in all conditions. The 75m2 mainsail is fitted with two automatic reefing mechanisms and a third manual reef, and the rigging runs back under the bridge to the cockpit and electric winches controlled by joysticks at the helm.

In standard configuration the Aureus XV comes with an automatic 49m2 self-tacking gib (or Solent). This choice offers more flexible maneuvering, a handy feature for offshore cruising. Indeed, a single sheet is positioned on one of the two rear electric winches and is maneuvered in both directions (reverse winches) by a joystick at each helm. The self-tacking mechanism is fitted onto an automatic winder controlled from both helms. Needless to say, a 105% genoa sail can also be provided.

We chose to kit out this cruiser with triradial sails made of high-performance materials: Hydranet for the “Essential” version, and D4 Membrane for the Aureus XV “Absolute”, for a swifter and even smoother sailing sensation. Highly efficient and durable, Hydranet and D4 Membrane (Taffetas/ Vectran/ Taffetas) are very well-suited to offshore sailboats.

To top it off, you can opt for a Code 0 in Kevlar, Gennaker or asymmetric spinnaker, all of which can be fitted onto an electric furler that is extremely easy to use. Enjoy the luxury of furling and unfurling a 210m2 asymmetric spinnaker in just eight seconds – with the enhanced safety such a feature provides to long-distance sailors.

The backstays are controlled hydraulically from each helm to enable faster and simpler adjustments. Maneuverability and adjustments are further enhanced by a hydraulic boom vang, which is also controlled at the helms.

Finally, the Absolute version is equipped with a large hydraulic pack worthy of a Maxi-Yacht. The mainsheet is controlled by means of a joystick at each helm, thanks to a stationary cylinder positioned inside the Park Avenue boom. The Cunningham and outhaul are also hydraulic, to facilitate faster and more precise adjustments, and can be controlled at both helms.

To equip the Aureus XV, we naturally went for a high-modulus carbon mast with two sets of swept-back spreaders. It seemed the obvious choice, given the need to balance out the extra weight at the top and ensure the sailboat’s safety and speed. The stiffness of the carbon transforms the forces on sails into a propulsive force.

The Aureus XV is also available with a primed aluminum mast and a primed aluminum classic boom.
